Slay the spire board game6/1/2023 We consider it one of the games of the generation. If you haven't played the Slay the Spire computer game, you absolutely should. The Slay the Spire board game will be Kickstarted this coming spring. Nevertheless, if there are lovely little pieces in the box, and lovely maps, I'll probably find it hard to say no. Otherwise, Slay the Spire should translate fairly simply, though keeping track of all the upgraded cards and relics and in-play abilities could be a faff. The Slay the Spire computer game isn't co-operative, however, so I'm intrigued to see how a one-player game will become, potentially, for four. Similar in that it's a deck-building and customising game, which, of course, Slay the Spire is.Įxactly how Slay the Spire will translate is unclear, but the brief description on Contention Games' website says the board game will be co-operative, and for one-to-four players. It's being made by a company called Contention Games, which has a similar-ish-looking game called Imperium: The Contention. From having read through the Rulebook and watching the videos discussing the game, it seems like they've nailed the puzzle.Shut the front door, Slay the Spire is being turned into a board game. Slay The Spire is a pretty darn well-regarded video game in its own right and so it was going to be interesting to see if the board game could offer a similar experience. The offerings from the Slayer's Pledge look decent enough as it is! There is also an All-In option for you to consider but that's only if you're totally sold on backing this campaign to the hilt. There are also some neat videos up on the Kickstarter page worth checking out. If you want to know more about the rules then you can check out the Rulebook for yourself. In this way, you'll twist and change your character's fate as you face a range of different foes. Defeating foes and progressing further up the tower will unlock special upgraded cards from your deck and also tweak the cards in your hand. Monsters will then strike back based on the roll of a die to determine their behaviour. Players will deal with the individual monsters in their respective rows and once all enemies have been defeated, you'll move on and take your rewards. During a turn, the players will choose how to spend their energy on cards in their hand, generating both damage and block that can be used to hurt their foes and make sure they don't get stomped in return. ![]() The main thrust of the game is based on combat.
